can i get some advice from CA residents?

I'm currently finishing up my freshman year at Kent State University in Ohio. I'm looking to transfer because I want to major in film, and Kent does not offer this particular major. I've lived here my whole life and am totallyy over it! I want to move away. Anywayss..I'm considering taking a semester off, and then transferring to a school in California. I was trying to find somewhere near LA because my best friend lives there. CSU LA and Long Beach aren't accepting lower-division transfers. What are some good schools around this area? I would be willing to go somewhere farther if I felt that I would be happy there. Hellppp! Tell me anythingg, I need all the advice you can give :)

Given California public schools’ serious financial woes (which resulted in fewer slots for OOS, particularly OOS transfers) your best bet are privates: Chapman has a good flim program, as does of course USC, and they won’t cost much more than Cal publics’ OOS tuition.

Chapman
Loyola Marymount U
USC

But, they’re all private, so could be pricey. What is your budget?

Pepperdine
LMU
Chapman
USC
Occidental

Maybe look at Pomona/CMC/Pitzer (“Film/media studied” in lieu of film, don’t know how much of it covers the professional side)

SCU doesn’t have a film major, but you can have a creative writing major via english. And USF in San Fran is pretty easy to get into, and a private. These two are in San Fran area though, as opposed to LA, but there are a couple major film studios in this area (PIxar, Dreamworks, Lucasfilms, etc).
