Hi, everyone I have a question. When I go to college, can I get two degrees at the same time if that makes sense? Have you heard of anyone doing this? For example, I want to get a degree for business because I want to major into fashion merchandising/styling but, I also want to get a degree in drama/theater to do acting as a part time career. So, I would see myself doing fashion and acting as a career. My question is can I get two degrees, business and drama/theater? Anyone experience or know of anyone who may have gotten 2 degrees? Also does tuition go up then if I would get 2 degrees? How does it work? I would REALLY appreciate helpful answers. TIA!
Google: “2 degrees in college” or “double degree” or “double major”
A double major is an undergraduate student who completes two sets of degree requirements. Although they declare two separate majors, most schools only award one bachelor’s degree listing both majors at time of completion.
Thanks!
In addition to double majors as explained above,
You can also get double degrees by completing two sets of degree requirements from two different departments such as one BA and one BS. Double degrees are general harder because there are less overlapping requirements.
Business and drama/theater would likely be just double majors, but could be double degrees if business is a separate degree at your university…
You can get also get double degrees with 3 majors such as BA in Computer Science & Political Science and BS in Physics.
You can get three degrees with three majors or five majors… the possibilities are endless. … then add a few minors to flavor them.
I’ve visited at least 3 schools where it is possible to graduate with both a BA and a BS: Bucknell, Alfred U., and Union, if I’m not mistaken. It may take more than 4 years unless you plan incredibly carefully.
Also, I think New School U has a 5-year BFA & BA program.
" but, I also want to get a degree in drama/theater to do acting as a part time career."
A BFA degree isn’t required for this you know. None of my classmates (including two academy award nominees) who are full time actors rec’d degrees in drama – but other items such as English, language, history.
