I am debating whether to take AP Chemistry next year. The last Chemistry class I took was last year in Honors Chem and I got a 91% overall. Do you guys think I can handle it? I am going to be taking 3 other ap classes next year (English, Gov and Politics , & Stats) along with a couple other honors classes and im going to be working so Im gonna be pretty busy. Should I or Shouldn't I??

Many of my friends take AP Chem and, from what I hear, it is really tough. If you are going to have a lot of things going on next year and depending on what you want to major in, AP Chem may not be for you. But if you are willing to put in a ton of time and energy into it, you should be fine.

It’s tough, but not as tough as people like to make it seem. It depends on the school too. If you have a good teacher, it’s a fun class. Ask people at your school who have taken it about the teacher, and if they say he/she’s good, and you’re willing to put in the work, go for it.

Take AP Chem next year. I’m taking AP Chem with AP Comp Sci, AP Psych and Differential Equations which is after AP Calculus BC and Multivariable Calculus.

I’m in it right now. I’d take it. Its a challange but it will be worth it. The content isn’t that bad.Just make sure the teacher actually teaches instead of handing out packets/busy work and knows how to curve a final. The class average was a 50% on the final w/o a curve. My first B in highschool.

I barely got an A in the class on a curve and I definitely regret taking it. It honestly depends on your teacher though.

Take it, its not that hard if you don’t slack off

I took AP Chem senior year with very little background (I didn’t take any other chemistry in HS). You should be fine as long as you have a good class and are motivated. My class didn’t finish all the topics and I didn’t prepare for the exam and still scored a 3. It didn’t matter since I would’ve taken chem the following year anyway.

^3 is mediocre, you should have prepared.

I thought ap chem was really easy, didn’t really put a lot of effort (compared to other classes, like english that year was REALLY hard) into it and got an A in the class, 5 on ap test, 800 on subject, I didn’t even take chem the year before. And you might be thinking I’m just a science whiz, but the previous year I took regular Bio and put a LOT of effort into that (more than I put into ap chem, by far), did extra credit, studied really hard at the end of the year, and got a B+.

Yes you can handle it

It was like Algebra II compared to Calc AB (for me).

Got a 94 for the year, 5 on the test, 770 on the subject test. Calc AB I am bordering a B and a C.

If you have a good work ethic, you’ll be fine.
