Can I handle taking 18 credits for fall term?

The schedule does not look very onerous to me. As another poster pointed out, it’s not Calculus, Organic Chemistry, and the like.

You should have time to study/do homework AND have a social life…don’t fall into the trap of spending more time worrying/avoiding work than actually doing it. Just do it and then go have fun. (I know, easier said than done.) :)

“Calculus, Organic Chemistry, and the like.”
-Any college art class will be more time consuming than Calc. or Orgo. They might be working in studio for 40+hrs/week. It looks like one of OP’s classes is art.

MiamiDap My D does.
1.perfect 4.0 across the board this semestre. Presidents list since day 1 and maintains an overall 3.99 GPA
2 performs with off campus orchestra, cant work a regular job because of visa requirements
3. has 4 ensembles rehearsal and 1 college orchestra of about 2 hours each a week including Saturday mornings, has been in the pit orchestra for a musical each semestre
4. Volunteering when and if she can
5. interning again is hard being on a visa, but she is a full time RA
6. not involved in greek life by choice
7 trips abroad only as holidays

She also has a social life on and off campus, she is very happy and thriving at what she is doing

I believe it is doable but as Mini said it is all time mangement and study habits.

Well, when the OP said Drawing & Composition from MWF from 1 to 3:30 I assumed that was what it was, not having other information.

I know Chem classes meet 3 days/week class plus 2 days labs. Not counting studying which varies widely but I have heard Orgo is the most difficult. My 2 cents, is all.

Wait until second semester freshman year, or better yet, sophomore year, before you start taking on 18 credits. It can be done, but I wouldn’t advise it first semester.

It depends on the personality. I hit campus on the young side (age 17) and was immediately plunged into 18 hours. I was terrified and worked like mad. By the end of the first term I posted a 3.75 and had excellent scheduling skills. The GPA didn’t last but the scheduling habits did.

OP–How did you do in high school? What was your GPA?
The schedule looks pretty easy to me. You said you won’t be working. The classes don’t look THAT hard.
For a lot of folks, 18 hours is the norm all through college. And a lot of them are working 10-20 hours a week and still manage a decent GPA. If you were a good student in high school and can manage your time well, you shouldn’t have a problem with this.

We are in the age of the “super” student I think.

I graduated three decades ago from a school where 18 credits was an “easy” semester … I think it may have happened once for me. Our usual credit load was 21-23. And this was an engineering/industrial management school! I still credit my college experience as preparing me for the realities of life. I had to work my rear off in order to have time to have fun (which I most certainly did!!).
