I'm really not that bright about the whole financial aid process. To me, it seems harder than the application process.

anyway, can someone tell me what happens after i get a financial offer??
that was pretty vague..
to specify the question, since i have already received many financial aid offers, does my acceptance of one school(sending the acceptance form back) mean that i'm getting that aid, too?? Are there any more documentations required or something?? Also, what happens to all the other financial aids from other schools? Do they all just disappear as soon as i choose a college??

help me out y'all

Each financial aid package that you received is for that specific college only, so, yes, you "lose" that aid when you turn down that college. If you look through the threads on CC, you'll see that many students are selecting their eventual colleges by comparing aid packages to see which one makes financial sense to attend.

As for accepting the aid, I can't answer definitively. It may be different for each college. Look at your financial aid offer. There may be a sheet in the envelope/folder that lists your aid and asks you to sign and accept. (This is often the case when you are offered loans.) Usually, though, an acceptance of admission automatically gives you the aid listed in your award. Scholarships are activated when you accept the offer of admission.

thanks for the information Momwaitingfornew :-)
i really appreciate it. i'll go check my financial offer right now.

But i think i misdeveloped my last question. i was asking whether i need to send other school some type of documentation(for example, checking on the box that says i'm not attending their school) to cancel their offer. So if you know anything about that, could you help me out??

As soon as you notify the school that you will not be attending, everything gets erased from your file. You don't have to do anything else.

thanx Momwaitingfornew :-)
