Can I list non-school activities?

<p>Since 9th grade I have been learning to code;I intend to major in computer engineering. So how do I go about putting this on the "activities" section of the common app?</p>

<p>What do I put for position/leadership?</p>

<p>You title it as other or math/science (I doubt it really matters), and in the long-ish box you can describe what you did.</p>

<p>Since you don’t have a position I would just call it independent programming. That is what I did.</p>

<p>Oh, you can definitely list non-school activities! Some admissions readers have even expressed that they find non-school participation more impressive than school activities.</p>
