Can I make it in electrical engineering?

I want to be an electrical engineer. The idea of working with new technology and creating gadgets that can help everyone has enticed me for a long time. Also, many of our family friends are engineers and are always up to date on new technology. However, I am not sure if I can make it from the workload standpoint. I thought Calculus I was not too bad, but it wasn't a breeze. I have looked at some circuit books and the work looks frightening. I am willing to work 4-5 hours a day if need be, but only if it ends up giving me results. Does some of the work get very intense? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

The fact is almost ALL engineering is intense work. There is no easy way to it at all. Be prepared to do some intense studying, hands-on work, critical work, etc. If you have great interest in the world of electrical engineering, and I mean if you think broadly, NOT on stuff like coursework, etc., then by all means stick with electrical engineering. If it doesn't suit you, then go study some "prose" and learn to be a poet instead!

I've been doing it.... 2 years now. I hated circuit theory, but its do-able if you dont mind working really hard sometimes. But you learn some of the COOLEST stuff! I highly suggest this major.

How many hours is it per day CheeseSteak? Also, is some of the math really difficult to understand?

hmmm.... well, depends on how fast you can grasp tough concepts. i spent on average 20 hours a week outside of class for a 15 hour course load this past semester. i never thought the math was that hard. calc 1 and 2 are weed out classes, but calc 3 is easy. diff-eq is easy.

How much work you'll have to do will also be a strong function of the school you attend. What schools are you looking at?

Oh, I already know what school I will be attending in the fall. It is the University of Arizona Honors College.

what college do you attend cheesesteak?

He goes to Texas A & M.

Is calc BC considered Calc 2? or is it sumthin different.

Calc AB = Calc 1
Calc BC = Calc 1 + Calc 2
