Can I make it through without en educational consultant ?

Hello guys :)

I'm gonna apply to a few american universities this winter and I've always though I was gonna hire a college coach but he seriously discouraged me .
He told me America is a '' mess '' and I'd better apply to England and his price is 12 000 euro ... so I caught myself wondering whether I'm better off filling my application by myself .... moreover since I have quite good ec's and and I've already payed for my SAT's I really don't wanna give up on America .
Any thought on that ?

There is absolutely no reason to get a college coach. They charge exorbitant rates and can actually hurt you (for instance I’ve heard having too “polished” an essay raises flags for admissions people–they really dislike the use of advisors). You can absolutely do it all yourself, thousands of internationals and even more US kids do it each year.

You can get find of basic information that will help you at: https://www.educationusa.info/</a></p>

After you have read through everything there, follow the links to find the contact information for the Advising Center closest to where you live. https://www.educationusa.info/centers.php</a> The counselors are expert at helping students from your country find good places to study here. EducationUSA is a not-for-profit organization, and many of the counselors are volunteers. Any fees that are charged will go directly to help maintain that office, not to make someone rich. You will have to do a lot more of the work yourself than if you work with a paid counselor, but it will be your own work, and you will save a lot of money.

You don’t need that, really. I did it with internet resources, mostly CC, and I’m currently starting my first year at Smith College. And if you can pay for that fee, it means you’ll actually have more of a choice than I did because I was limited to schools that would give me enough financial aid (which limited my choices a LOT).
