Can I make MIT

Hello everyone.
I am currently a grade 9 Pre-IB student, and I have some questions about making MIT.
So as most of you would know (You've all done a full year of H.S. probably, you know how semesters work), I've finished my first semester! Sadly, my marks are quite low (74 in english (my teacher is a grammar cop)83 in Drama, 86 in Phys.ed, and 90s in Religion/Music).

So what I would like to know is, would MIT look back at this failure of a first semester, and overlook my future math and science marks? (I'm talking highly about math and science because I've seen my friends works, they have it easy)? I slacked off a bit, and have never been good with classes where I am evaluated. I have always looked good on paper, and bad on person. As well, what could I do to make myself look good for the next few years?
I currently am active in:
-Piano (heading into level 7, started back in grade 6)
-Getting into basketball
-EPGY (Just for one more year, so I can begin and finish physics since my school doesn't offer it)
I've always wanted to get into an occupation revolving around space, first an astronomer, then an astronaut, and now an Aeronautics Engineer, and I know MIT will help me become established in the field, as they do specialize in engineering. So is there still hope?

There is still hope, develop your work ethic. MIT will not overlook your current grades, but that doesn’t mean you should let that worry you in the future.

Good luck! You have plenty of time to readjust and do better.

There is still a chance, but know that they reject most applicants and you need to improve your grades. Also know that top schools generally recalculate your GPA without electives which would put you at a 2.0 right now.

Alright, thank you. What would you say be the minimum mark they would be looking for out of the IB’s 45? I’m gunning for a 42 personally. I know marks only account for 1/5 of their candidate
