I may not be able to submit this one one time for various reasons and I'd rather do it during orientation than pulling off an all nighter right now :(. Is this possible? Thanks for any feedback!

**Also if I can take the make-up, will it get in the way of ASEs?

I assume if you don’t take you automatically fail it, and the consequence of that is a more limited selection of freshmen classes. Specifically, you will be required to take a CI-HW class, I think within your first year, whereas if you passed the FEE you would have to take a CI-H, which is a broader category.

Here’s a list of CI-H classes: [MIT Subject Listing & Schedule Fall 2013 Search Results](<a href=“MIT Subject Listing & Schedule Fall 2023 Search Results”>MIT Subject Listing & Schedule Fall 2023 Search Results)

As for all-nighters–

Get used to it. Alternatively, manage your time.

There is a FEE offered during orientation, but it’s pencil and paper, not online/typed.

Do transfer students need to take the FEE? (I’ve asked on campus, and nobody seems quite sure.)

clklclkl, if you are trying to transfer credit for an introductory writing course, you may be exempt from the FEE, but you will otherwise have to take it unless you KNOW you are receiving credit for it. If you received a 5 on AP Lit or AP Lang you are exempt regardless of freshman/transfer status.

More information here: [MIT Transfer Students: Academics and Transfer Credit - Your Academics](http://web.mit.edu/firstyear/transfer/credit/academics.html#fee)

It has been my perception that transferring arts/writing credit to MIT is very difficult, so I would advise you to go ahead and take the FEE online in July rather than wait to find out if your credit transfers.

Luisarose, thank you! That was very helpful.

No problem good luck!

Generally, they’ll try to schedule the FEE and popular ASEs at different times during orientation.
