Can I make up for doing poorly Freshman year?

I got a 2.6 GPA and a 3.1 GPA and no extracurriculars. This summer I had an epiphany that if I want to do good in life I need to put effort! Next year I will have 2 honors classes & an AP class, Junior year I will have 5 AP classes & a normal one. I'm very passionate with helping others so I'm going to join all the clubs at my school that are related to helping out. If I do excellent academically will I have a chance? What if I'm well rounded? Thanks for your answers

I guess it depends on how much better you get. If you nailed 4.0’s the next couple of years and first semester of senior year they probably wouldn’t put as much weight on freshman year. Regardless go kick some ass.

Honestly you have a lot to prove, sub 3.0 in HS is frankly terrible. That said if you start to nail 3.8+ semesters from here on out some schools might overlook it. I would start there

It’s hard to say. However, you’d definitely want 3.8s+ to even stand a chance from now on. Try to look into SATs and other ECs - you have to do really well in them now.

Definitely-- I was doing pretty poor myself when I was a freshman. Just keep your head up and keep working at it.
