Can I not take Pre Calc or Calc in High School to Major in business in college?

I am currently in precalc and struggling. I have a c right now. I am thinking about dropping it for algebra with trig. I took algebra 2 last year

I am in 11th grade

Are you in precalculus regular or honors?
You may take trig but you need precalculus to major in business. The business major then will have a weedout calculus course.
Why are you getting a C?

My daughter’s college has a math for business option for all business administration students though they encourage a higher math. It says no credit is given if you’ve already taken precalculus so I guess it is on that level but I’m not sure how often it is taught. There is also a calculus and quantitative methods option which sounds like a class that covers just some calculus topics and may move at a slower pace. However math at the calculus 1 level is strongly recommended even if some classes are electives needed to get there.

Have you talked to your precalculus teacher for suggestions or to see if switching to a lower math might better based on your current performance? Does your school have a peer tutoring program?

You will likely have to take a calc class in college as a prereq or within the business school. It will be harder than taking calc in HS. I would get as much help now so you have a better chance of success. Econ will also require calc and stats of some sort.

Business majors commonly have to take calculus, although it is commonly a less rigorous “calculus for business majors” course.

Regular. IDK. I find everything is easy, but when I get test back I got like 70’s. I stayed back to review a few times.

You need to review the concepts then take new exercises to test yourself.

I would continue in Precalc. You don’t want to take it in college for the first time. You will have to have some college math for business.

You need to change how you study…here are ideas:
