-- sorry for the long post, but i want to know if i have a chance at any of these... thanks!

sorry for the double post- please refer to my stats in the above post

Does anyone out there have any words of advice or thoughts for me??

you might…it’s always unsure. Ur EC’s in sports are okay and ur academics are okay. Keyword is okay. It seems like you might need more depth…like bigger wins than just county

brown ED you probably can if you show enough interest.

thanks guys. i didn’t go into that much detail, but i’m very involved in my school’s community service club. this year we implemented a recycling program at my school (its incredible we didn’t have one). we’ve done a ton of work in my town and in surrounding, less fortunate areas. on an application, i would be able to talk a lot about the club and hopefully show more depth.

my interests lie in journalism and international languages. i’ll probably be in an editorial position next year for my school paper (students can’t actually be on the paper until they are seniors). it’s the only weekly, uncensored publication in the state. because i’m interested in majoring in internat’l relations, do the 2 languages really stand out or is that more of a common thing for kids to do than i realize?

Also, will my writing score of 800 help me at all? I know most of the colleges say they don’t count the writing - I’m not sure about Brown though

The writing score will be noticed, even if they don’t officially count it. Can you boost your tennis accomplishments enough to be recruited?

I actually don’t really want to play tennis in college - not at a varsity level anyway; I was thinking more intramural or possibly club. I want to play for the enjoyment, without the pressure. But thanks for the suggestion - any other ideas?

bumping…

bump again…

any other insight?

haha, ED? Given.

Then again, I never was one to lock myself into a school early, so I am probably over-generalizing.

bump…

I would give you a 30 to 40 percent chance for Brown. It’s definitely a reach, but then again, it’s a reach for anyone. Good luck!

Thanks so much - I really appreciate your input - I am trying to decide if it’s worth it for me to apply ED or if I shouldn’t even bother…

bumping…

bumping again…PLEASE give me your input - thanks!!!

bump - PLEASE HELP!

I agree that your stats and your ECs seem okay (just ok) and that you need more depth. How do you achieve this? I’d say through some pretty kick butt letters of recommendation. If you can get a few teachers who can really convey who you are in a meaningful way (that is, in a way that relates to your possible majors), then you’ll have a better chance.
