Can I put cash on my Husky card?

My mom doesn't want me having too much cash in my dorm room and there aren't any TD Banknorths close to campus. So she's insisting that I can bring cash to Student Services or something and they'll put it on my Husky card. I gues that's what she heard at orientation or something? Is this possible?

go to www.myneu.neu.edu, click on NUPay in top right corner, click “make payment” up top, and then click “add funds to husky card” and you can add funds with a credit/debit card

You can do that but it will limit where you can spend the funds. You can’t take a T to a TD Banknorth?

yeah, I know I can use a credit/debit card, my mom’s just convinced I can actually use cash. I guess my mom tried to add funds online but was confused by something (if I talk to her later I can find out what the problem is and ask you guys :)).

I couuuuuuuuuuuld take a T to find a TD Banknorth… but it’d easier for me to just give my dad the cash and have him deposit it at home since he works here in the city… yeah I know, I’m still adjusting to college independene, so I guess I will eventually have to find a local TD Banknorth lol (or finally give in and transfer to Bank of America).

NEW QUESTION:

When adding funds to a Husky card, it says to put in the amount, but what happens after that? Will it give me the option to choose what credit card or whatever to use? Or do they already have one on file that they’ll be charging?

i think it will ask for a credit card.

but seriously, i’d reconsider. once you change cash into husky dollars… you can’t do much with it.

i think there is a tdbank north over by the copley station… which i have definitely walked to several times. chances are, you’ll be taking the t/walking there anyway, and you could just stop by the bank then.

if you really think you’re only gonna need to buy groceries and things like that, then go for it, but i personally never understood the purpose of husky dollars unless your parents are giving you the money. just get a debit card.

^Great suggestions. I think the idea behind it was that my parents didn’t want me carrying around my debit card with my Husky card for some reason.
