Can i put this on my college app?

I’m shadowing the head of the marketing section of google this summer for roughly 45 hours over a two week period. I plan to apply to business schools and would love to know if I could put this on my app next year?

Sure you can. But I don’t expect it will move the needle on any admissions decision.

Yes, and you can post about it here too. It would be nice to shadow those guys for a change instead them always shadowing us.

You can put it on. But shadowing isn’t really doing anything. It isn’t really adding to your accomplishments.

Somewhere, is a kid who actually did something at Google…Shadowing isn’t anything special, and even IF you had an internship at Google…Colleges don’t care.

@someguyinSJ why would colleges not care if he had an internship at google? I’m not criticizing I’m just curious what the reasoning is

Yes, put it on. It shows you have interest in business/marketing.

It could also be worked into an essay depending on the prompt.

And no reason to describe it as shadowing. Look at other ways to describe this unique experience.

@seniorx2019 It wasn’t an actual internship.

Enjoy the experience. Take something of value from your time there and all you do. Take a look around.

Add those key learnings, intelligently and sincerely, to your profile and essays.

But only if it resonates with you.

Two weeks at google. Or two weeks on a service trip. They all have a place in your narrative. It can be part of your ecs and certainly on your resume.

It won’t move the needle but you might actually learn something. The point of it all in the end.

And remember some posters are your competition, so take commentary with a grain of salt.

It may also mean that you have a family connection that facilitated this shadowing. That would not be seen as impressive.

Yes, you should put it on your application to undergraduate business schools. Any connection with a major employer should be attractive to business schools as business schools are very concerned with placing students into prestigious internships & jobs.

It’s not going to wow anyone. But it’s also interesting.

You’re not sitting in your basement playing video games. It’s interesting.

Add it especially if there is something you learn that motivates you in a direction.

It’s not google that’s interesting to them. It’s you that is interesting to them.
