Can I put this on my college application?

I have had the opportunity to volunteer at a computer recycling company, and an insurance company. This summer, I am interning at an optometry and i wish to go into a medical field. I want to become a nurse, maybe eventually a pediatric nurse or even pediatrician, but I feel like if i put that I volunteered at the companies, it wouldn’t look like I only have one thing I want to pursue, as they both have nothing to do with medicine and they dont give me any exposure to that field. I am volunteering at an optometry this summer to gain experience and to see how it feels like to be in a medical environment and to interact with patients, but its not a doctors office or clinic (i wish it was). Is it bad if i list these as my volunteer/work experiences?

Hell yeah - you can absolutely put those on your application as volunteer/work experiences.

The more well-rounded the experiences, the better.

No. Any experience is good experience.

It is a very good idea to list your volunteer and work experiences. You are in high school and should be exploring all sorts of opportunities. You should even continue this in college.

Your experiences are interesting, and show that you were open to a variety of opportunities. Don’t forget it’s also what you learned from each that is more important than ‘the title’ of said experience. ps. Try not to overthink this process, it usually works against those that do.
