Can I qualify for National Merit?

Im not a US citizen yet and do not have the green card. I heard from somewhere that you have to be a US citizen to qualify for national merit semifinalist standing. I've been in America for about 11 years and got a 222 on my psat. Does anyone know what I have to do in order to qualify for national merit without a citizenship status?

Edit - wrong section sorry. Can someone move it to SAT/ACT

This might be wrong section but you MUST be a citizen/green card to be eligible, it states it on the score report

Is there anyway to bypass that requirement? And not even to be in the running for the scholarship (semifinalist)?

devrybound…Have you applied for citizenship yet? You can reference the student requirements listed at this link

[National Merit Scholarship Corporation - NMSP](http://www.nationalmerit.org/nmsp.php#entryreq)

and find instructions on how to provide documentation of your status IF you have already applied. If you answered a straight “NO” to the citizenship question on your PSAT form, I believe you are out of luck.

Yes I have applied for citizenship. I understand now… there are requirements only for obtaining the scholarship, not for the semifinalist standing. Thanks for the link.
