Hey guys im about to enter my senior year with a 2.6, am i able to raise my gpa to a 3…next year i am taking 1 ap class and 6 regular , the reason im taking the regular classes is so that i can get an easy A in those classes to raise my gpa
You have a 2.6 after three years. It is mathematically impossible to raise it to a3.0 even if you get straight A’s.
I have to agree with @TomSrOfBoston. Your GPA is very low, and the only thing you could do to help your weighted GPA would be to probably take more AP/Honors/IB classes and get good grades (A-range) in them. You can’t raise your unweighted GPA to a 3.0, though.
It isn’t mathematically impossible^^^^^^^^. Just run the numbers through (average the 4 years) and you will see that if you are able to get a very high GPA next year (a 4.2 or better) then you can raise your Cumulative GPA to a 3.00. However, it is easier said then done, particularly if you don’t have any experience managing an AP class. Nonetheless, with the right determination and motivation you can certainly do it.
Good Luck!
^ Sure if you look at wGPA. There some schools even with wGPA max at 7.0. For a typical 4.0 max uwGPA scale, it is next to impossible. Nevertheless, there are school districts that allow retaking courses online or in Summer. If OP can do that to fix a few of the classes with the lowest grades and then get straight A next year, there is a slight chance.
Colleges don’t take WGPAs seriously.
Anyways, assuming you use the semester system, let’s do the math:
2.6 avg over 6 semesters + 4.0 average over 1 semester (which is the fall semester of your senior year, and coincidentally the only one that matters in college decisions) = 2.8 cumulative unweighted over 7 semesters.
2.8 =/= 3.0
