Hey guys, i was wondering if could raise my act score from a 28 to at least a 31 in one month.
The thing is that i got a 2230 in the sat but i decided to take the act without even preparing just for trying and i got 28, my main problem is that i'm applying to stanford and they require me to send all my scores, act and sat. Obviously a 28 could be very detrimental for my application(i'm an international student asking for a LOT of fin aid); i bought the act real prep book and i'm planning to study at least 5 hours a day everyday, so the question is if is it possible to raise my score at least 3 points in one month? Thank you very much in advance for your inputs.

I actually don’t understand how you got 28 if you got 2230 on your SAT even though you said that you didn’t prepare for the ACT. So yeah, I think you can improve!

Stanford will ONLY look at your highest SAT or ACT score. So they will officially only care about the 2230 SAT and will disregard the 28 ACT. It basically wouldn’t be detrimental to you at all. Similar issues are quite prevalent. Lots of people have had low test scores and have retaken the SAT/ACT multiple times and still have to send all their low scores.

Not to mention, some people perform better on the ACT, while others do better on the SAT or vice versa. I actually got a 2120 on my SAT the first time, and a 34 on the ACT. Don’t worry about it, no need to study for hours and retake it. Don’t stress.

But if you do insist on retaking it, then yes it is possible to raise your score as much as you need. Sometimes it’s just about the circumstances or random questions that you get or stupid mistakes that are made. Studying may or may not make the difference. But it can only help
