As a transfer student who came in with 105 transfer credits, I soon found myself reaching the maximum 225 units that an undergrad is allowed to have. My advisor said that was a common problem with transfer students, but unfortunately, the terms of the excess units petition to allow me to finish the 4 courses I still needed to take for my degree says that I cannot use the petition to repeat classes I got a poor grade in. I got a D grade in Physics 7b, yet I got a B- in 7c (for some reason I understood concepts in 7c better). Since I already turned in the excess units petition in fall quarter, i’m prevented from being able to retake physics 7b in spring as the petition only allowed me to take winter quarter classes. The course isnt required for my major and I dont need it to graduate, but it is a prereq for the vet schools/grad schools I’m planning to apply for, and i’m just wondering whether I can repeat them during summer after graduation. I also still need to take one more course (an mcb course) that one of the vet schools i’m planning to apply to requires, but again, because of the limits of the excess units petition, I can only take courses that count towards my graduation. I have already filed for graduation since all the courses that i needed for my major have been completed. What do I do?
