i am pretty nervous about taking honors algebra II next year, but i know one of the teachers teaching it. i was wondering if you guys have any tips for me to convince the scheduling ppl to make him my teacher. the problem is i will be having him for ap comp sci, so i am not sure whether i can have the same teacher for 2 subjects.

tips?comments?help?

I don't think the problem would be having him for two different periods. I would just see which period the teacher teaches algebra II and then try to get yourself into that period. Say you can't have algebra II during the period your currently in because you want to take some other class (have the specific class in mind) that meets that period. I hope that made sense! Good luck!

I know I requested a teacher in 5th grade and I got him (the other teacher was just so mean with her students...) but I don't know if you can do that in high school anymore. Asfor having him in two subjects, I had the same teacher in both my science class and junior Biology class. The year before, I had my Art teacher for Arts and Religious Ethics. Usually, here, it's when they have a teacher shortage... But I had several of my teachers for two or three years too.

I would try asking, just to see if you can get a different teacher. I'm guessing they won't say no to you, as long as the other teacher's class works in your schedule.

At my school they SPECIFICALLY don't honor teacher requests [in their words], which really means... if you request a teacher, you DEFINITELY won't get them. ugh.

^ works as well. I would specifically request a teacher I hate :D . Increases the chances that I get the teacher I want. But only do that if you're sure the system works that way.

^Yeah, you'd think it'd work that way. However, they've got us students figured out. Whenever people "request" the teachers that are typically not wanted, they're like "huhh.. they don't want that teacher" so you get them. Argh. Our administration is pretty tough.

At my school, if you send in a request, they say they will try their best to get you in that class. They always do, but they don't want kids by the boatlaod trying to get out if the "harder" teacher's class. I think, if you do well in school, they will listen. But then again, if you do poorly, you might just want to see where they put you.
