Can I reuse last year's UC essays?

Hi! I’m a 3rd year CC student. I applied to UCs last year with what I think are pretty good essays. My whole family, who are really successful academically and professionally, helped me edit all the essays so there were a lot of people helping me try and write 4 solid essays. They were definitely much better and much less rushed than my high school senior essays.

I did eventually get into a UC to start this year, but I wasn’t paying attention and realized too late that I didn’t have my English requirement fulfilled so my admission got withdrawn. I’m tagging that same UC this time, and as long as I do well in my English class, I’m expecting to get in (fingers crossed!). Of course, I’m still probably going to apply to the top-tier UCs, but I’m not banking on it. I mainly care about the UC I initially got into this year.

That said, would it make sense to reuse those essays that took me 1.5 months to write last year? Can I? Should I? The process was just so stressful the first two times, so I’d really like to avoid it as much as possible. Thanks!

I would think so. My daughter was one of the more than 100k applicants to Cal freshmen class and they say that each app gets read twice but really how can they really read that many. If she applied again she would re-use.

Yeah if you are tagging to uci anyways it shouldn’t matter. So you should be fine with reusing your essays.

I think someone made a similar post on reddit a few days ago so you should look it up and see what those comments say aswell.
