I want to use my UChicago supp, with some edits, for the supp of another school. But I’m afraid the second school will know this is a supp for UChicago since it answers a UChicago prompt. Should I play it safe and write another one or will the second school not notice or not check?
Depends. What’s the second school? And which question is it?
For UChicago, it’s the weird supplement question (find x). The second school is William and Mary (question is what makes you unique and colorful)
I think it is fine to reuse the supplement, as long as you’ve altered it to fit the question W&M is asking. Do NOT use “Find x” as the essay title, as that will be a dead giveaway.
I often advise students to reuse their essays, but you have to be very careful you’re answering the question, and that there is no information in the essay that is identifiable to the college you first submitted it to!
Thank you so much! It really saved a lot of time!
