Hello,
I’m currently a sophomore and I am taking AP European History and I have a 98 in the class. I very much like the information we learn and I was thinking about taking AP World and/or AP Human over the summer or sometime later. People say AP Human is easy and it seems like a fun course, and I have been wanting to take AP World, but my school doesn’t offer the course. After taking AP Euro, do you think I can self-study AP World and/or AP Human? Can you guys also recommend me with some good textbooks or prep books for these courses?
Any response would be great, even if you think I can’t handle the AP courses.
If you’re doing great in AP Euro, you can definetly do AP World. I took APUSH last year and got a five and am self studying World this year as well. I use “Ways of the World” by Strayer for my textbook. As for prep books, I prefer the Princeton Review. I would recommend asking your AP Euro teacher, should you choose to self study, if he/she would be willing to look over some practice essays over the course of the year. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions! (:
@history1000 thank you so much!!
Do it if you find it fun, but be aware colleges want you in class, participating, being challenged, taking tests - not self studying. If you’re really interested AND want to make it “count” for college admissions, see if a community college near you offers the class over the summer.
Ap world has a lot of info in it. And by a lot, I mean A LOT. The ap world exam isn’t allowed to contain more than 20% of its content on europe, therefore you only really need to know the overall picture of europe. Ap euro won’t help you too much with the class.
Do it if you wish, but keep in mind that the exam tests on an insane amount of info.
I did, and got a 5 in APWH last year. It’s definitely doable, you just have to read the book.
I used 5 steps to get a 5 and princeton review and understand the big ideas
