I want to major in computer programming software

My school canceled all computer science classes a while back because not enough people took them. But I know of a freshman (now senior) who took AP stats test w/o taking the class (and the BC calc test that year). So I can figure out how to take the test from him. I also study pretty well.
But will it do any good? seeing as APs are in May and the scores get sent in december?
Should I just make a program and tell them 'look i can do C++' on my activities sheet? I can do html (not a language) and TI calc (also) and a lil C++ so?Does it matter for say Cornell Early Decision?

if you are fairly good with at understanding computer science concepts without having a teacher to drill them in, and you are good at AP taking in general, then yeah, its not a hard AP.

I think AP Computer Science is one of the easiest APs to self study. It's like math; everything's there and you don't need to interpret anything. All you need to do is use it correctly.

Then again, if you're not so good with syntax and logic, CS could get a bit confusing.

i tried for the first quarter..but since there was no one i could ask what i was doing right/wrong..it got extremely hard..so i stopped..:) but if you think you have a good background, then go for it.

I'd strongly advise against it. I studied cs A in an online course and learned the AB material on my own (got a 5, btw). that was fairly challenging as it was.

if you haven't done java before, you definitely should take a class.
