Can I send a new essay?

Hi!

I submitted an essay to my match college a few days before the new years, but after I submitted, I wrote a new and better essay. It's a personal statement, and I feel that this new one shows more about me while the first one just talked about me growing up and taking up responsibilities.

Is it possible to change the essay that I sent to a new one?

Yes, you can.
I ran into the same situation, and found out that the way you do it is this:
1: Click on the “update account” button in the top left corner of the common app page.
2: Enter a new account password; all the other account info should automatically be filled in the same as on your original account.
3: Click the “create account” button at the bottom of the page, and you’re done!

When you have finished, the same colleges that you had elected under the “my colleges” section of your old account should appear in the new account, and the colleges to which you have already submitted your application should still have the green arrow next to them to indicate this. The only difference between your old and new accounts should be your password and that in the new account your application will be blank. I hope this solves your problem.

I would send hard copy with a note asking to replace the old essay with the enclosed one.

@Lunatic - I already submitted my essay though :c

@hmom5 - Should I email admissions asking for permission first?
