Can I send my own recommendations??

Are teachers the only one allowed to send recommendations, or can I send them myself as long as I don't disclose the envelopes??

It is customary to provide your recommenders with stamped, addressed envelopes so that they can send the recommendation in confidence. If you have selected your recommenders carefully, they will have lots of positive things to say and will often want you to see the letter. If they return it to you unsealed, it is fine to look at it and keep a copy for your records.

When you ask for a recommendation, be sure to ask if they can write a good - or positive - letter. If they hesitate, you should ask someone else. If you are so unsure of what they may say that you feel you can't let them send it without you seeing it, again - ask someone else.
