If I sent my PSAT scores in with my application, would a college take a look at it? I did pretty well on it so I was wondering if it could supplement (not replace) my SAT score.

PSAT scores don’t have a send option. Their primary purpose is to prepare you for the SAT/see what you need work on/etc, and their other purpose is for the National Merit Scholarship award. If you did really well on it, the most you could do is be recommended to two colleges.

What if I mailed copies (or an original) of my PSAT score report to the college (s)?

If you did well on your SATs, that will be pointless. If you did better on your SATs, that will be very pointless. If you did worse on your SATs, it wouldn’t help. So even if you sent your PSAT scores to the college, they wouldn’t consider it.

I honestly don’t think they’d care about your PSAT score when they already know your SAT score. The PSAT is mainly there to see how well-prepared you are for the SAT (which should be higher anyway), possibly qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship, and notify colleges around the country of bright students. My friend got over 200 on her PSAT, and she’s gotten invitation letters from Harvard, Princeton, Yale, etc. I scored less, so I haven’t gotten any of those. But I am getting letters from other good colleges across the country.

Well basically while I did fine overall on the SAT, I didnt do as well as I hoped to on the writing and reading portions. On the PSAT, I did very well on reading and writing but lost points on math. The interesting part is, I took my SAT a week before I took the PSAT.

^That’s how I did on my PSAT too. But the point is, colleges only care about your SAT.

Ok that makes sense. But would it hurt if I sent copies along anyways?

It would be utterly pointless and you’d be killing more trees.

I guess it wouldn’t hurt. Might make you seem a little desperate, though.

YourPSAT scores are normally attached to your HS transcript. Regardless, stop straw grasping. PSAT is basically useless as a college evaluation tool. Might as well send in your inseam length.
