So... I just "finished" my first essay for college apps.
The topic was:
Evaluate a significant experience.... and its impact on you.

Is it normal to feel like you just wrote a really bad essay on the first college essay you've written?
I feel like mine doesn't really, hmm, flow very well?
I dunno how to describe it.

If you wouldn't mind critiquing my essay, please let me know! :)

thanks!

Mikeypz - hopefully you’re having some teachers or mentors that you KNOW read this…anyone can login to CC…

I’d be happy to look at it; PM me.

True, but naive. Yes, internet advice should always be taken with a grain of salt, especially on sites like CC where people will make ridiculous claims like “you have a 90% chance of getting into Harvard!@!@!” That said, it’s important to have somebody who does not know you well read your essay to make sure that (1) it makes sense; and (2) they can get an idea of your personality from your essay.

sure thing pm me for an honest assesment

Pm me if YOU want…I’m still in high school but I’m a decent writer. I’ll look over it and critique as best I can. If you’d rather not have me look it over, that makes sense too :)

@capenn, I haven’t sent any to teachers… YET. But I will!

@others, thanks guys!

I would also like to take a look. I’m sure it’s not as bad you say
