Can I skip the an ap test and then take it on the makeup date?

Currently I am self-studying ap calculus bc and I feel like I might not be able to cover all of the information I need to get a 5 in the next 5 days. Is it possible for me to miss the test on the test date and then take it on the makeup date. Thanks.

No; they only allow you to do that if you have a good reason.

Jw but couldn’t you just say you were sick?

For BC Calc, the form B is always much MUCH harder than the form A. I would advise just taking it the first day.

They would probably want a doctor’s note…

Procrastination is not a legitimate reason.

Just fake sick. Worked for me last year (5 on AB calculus).

Nah; the rumor that Form Bs are harder than Form As is somewhat unfounded. As someone who took two history AP exams last year- one on the test day and one as a make-up- I can say with some confidence that both forms required about the same depth of knowledge.

And if you can get a doctor’s note for missing school, even from a clinic or something, then you’d be fine to take the make-up exam. The AP coordinator at your school just needs to be able to submit something to the CollegeBoard to justify your missing the test. I definitely don’t recommend faking sick, but I think it probably could work. Be careful of getting in trouble with your school, though. The school might have bigger consequences than the CollegeBoard.

Also, a head’s up: you might have to pay a restocking fee for the original test (about $13) and/or pay for the AP proctor because you’ll need one of your own (usually about $80).

Best of luck!

For the calculus just look at the free responses online. The question 6’s are almost always harder on the form B’s

Can skipping an AP test for more time and taking Form B later be done for any test? Why don’t more people do this?

Probably because most people actually prepare themselves in the ~8 months they have from the beginning of a school year to the exam date.

@HONORLIONS- Probably because make-ups are a total pain. They’re about 2 weeks (if I remember right) after everyone else has finished exams, and there’s a lot more pressure on you if you want to do well because most teachers stop reviewing AP material after the original test date passes.

For a self-studier, taking the make-up might be an advantage, but it’s really not for someone who’s been in the class all year.

Just so everyone knows, Form B’s aren’t “make-ups.” They’re actual tests for people in other countries so that we Form A-ers don’t share questions.

^ That’s what I thought.

They never release the make-up information. And only a few tests have form Bs.

“Form A” exams are actually the make-up tests given after the normal administration - exams given in the next two weeks are actually called the “operational exams,” not form A. “Form B” exams are given internationally to prevent time zone cheating.

Um since when are make-up tests given prior to the normal administration?

Form B’s tend to be harder in terms of FRQ… We recently looked at an AP lang form B synthesis… while the form A that year was a straightforward one about the effects of advertising, the form B dealt with a museum curator’s decision to select a piece… Needless to say, the highest exemplar given by CB was a poorly-written 8.

I think Form Bs are given at the normal time to maintain security; the late exam FRQs are NEVER released.

Well this is a tempting idea…

Did you need a doctor’s note?
I missed my test today because I was late so they didn’t end up letting me take it
