I know that the deadlines were over a month ago, but I read somewhere that you could still apply, just not get any merit aid. Is this true? I wasn’t initially going to apply, but I just learned that Minnesota is a relatively cheaper school for OOS students compared to others of that caliber.
Your application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
If you planned on applying to CBS, Carlson, or Engineering, I don’t think it’d be very likely, but for other colleges you may have a decent shot.
@baroqueboi - you do realize that UMN is just beginning a significant tuition increase for OOS students? Right now it still looks reasonable but by year four it may well look more like UW-Madison or U-IA or UIUC . . .
@JBStillFlying Yep, that is what concerns me. OOS tuition going up every year…
I think I read 7% increase for 2017-2018 school year? I am confused, though. Doesn’t the Board meet in July to finalize the upcoming school year tuition?
I think it just went up 7.5% for OOS. Now it’s going up another 7%? We’ll have to take a close look at this.
Probably what was submitted was the president’s proposal for 2017-18. Not finalized till summer so the board can certainly clip that a bit. But that is an aggressive proposal! They didn’t really see any adverse effects from the last increase so this isn’t exactly surprising. Plus they’ve had the opportunity to observe most of the applications at this point and can make some preliminary judgements about the stats for the next entering class.
Any idea how this increase applies to a WI resident, if it does?
Thanks in advance.
I think I answered my own question as it appears WI residents with a reciprocity approval receive in state rates…
