Can I still get accepted for applying late?

Hi. I applied to University of South Carolina, but I applied in February. You may ask why I didn’t apply by the December 1st deadline, and this is because I needed more choices for college and financial aid combined with my ignorance. I talked to my guidance counselor and she has known the director of admissions for 18 years, and has done things like this with him. After e-mailing him, he said that my application would be considered for “space available”. I suppose that means that they will consider my application after everyone has enrolled, and they will accept me if they have dorm and class space. I have been very stressed about this, but my guidance counselor told me that believes I will get in after I asked her for her honest opinion. What do you think? Can I still get into a college on a late deadline if I have a reason? Any response would be appreciated.

Thanks

If it helps, over 70% of USC students live off campus. so that would mean that there is open space for me, but I am not sure about class size. My stats are: GPA - 3.3 SAT - 1800

Bump. Please help.

It’s hard for anyone to help since each school has a different policy about it. It sounds like it might be possible for U of South Carolina given his response. But I would expect that chances are greatly lower than if you had applied before the deadline.
