I'm a junior in high school and have always wanted to go to Sac State but I'm worried that I won't be able to get in now because I just bombed my AP US History final and my grade dropped to a D+ which is the worst grade I've gotten in a long time (I got an F in Algebra Freshman year but I took summer school and got a C). I've taken about 4 different honors classes and have gotten A's and B's in all of them but AP was just way too hard for me. I only got a couple C's my freshman year and only A's and B's last year. My GPA is around 3.2 I think and I have some good extracurriculares. Do I still have a chance of getting into Sac State or another CSU??

I may get another C this semester too but I’m not sure yet

Yes can get into Sac State but you would need to retake US History to replace that D+. Average GPA was 3.27 unweighted out of 4.0 last year. Your admission is not only based on your GPA but your SAT/ACT score, so you need to prepare for those exams and try to take at least one time before end of Junior year. This will give you the summer to study and retake in September if necessary. If your GPA stays around 3.2, many Cal States would accept you.

At the end of your Junior year, calculate your CSU GPA using this link:<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>https://secure.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/gpa_calculator.asp

You might want consider the following Cal states: Monterey Bay, Channel Islands, San Marcos, East Bay and Stanislaus.

Here is the common data set for Sac State 2014 and you can see what % of applicants got in by GPA/SAT and ACT scores.

Good Luck to you and work hard this year.
