Can I still get into NYU Tisch?

Hi,
Last year was probably the hardest year mentally of my life & I got awful grades because of this. I think I got around a 1.33 gpa taking 2 honors classes (didn’t fail anything). NYU Ticsh is my dream school and I have really good extra curriculars in my opinion, but my counselor didn’t want me taking any hard classes this year due to my mental state. I am now stable and I’m trying to get my grades up. They will definitely be better than last year but not straight A’s or anything. Here are my extracurriculars:

-I go to an arts school half time, and have straight A’s there. Also heavily envolved in extra curriculars there like productions, etc
-I am going on an exchange year next year to France
-I self published a poetry book, and I’m working on a second one.
-I produce and write my own music

If I can get my grades up sophomore year, keep doing good on my extracurriculars, get a pretty good SAT score, amd write an amazing essay (I would say I’m a pretty good writer) could I have a shot of getting into NYU ticsh? I want to go to Cline Davis

No clue how to answer you but I would say this -

  1. Be the best you that you can be - with your mental health as a priority

  2. There are lots of fine music schools out there - whether your interest is recording, business, or both.

There will be opportunities for you to study what you want, at NYU or otherwise.

Tisch is kind of unpredictable. I know someone who said when he was in high school that Marist was the best he could do. And he was OK with that. But he took a flyer on Tisch anyway . . . And got in!!! He had a great 4 years there and is on to a career in film and the arts.

So I say, give it a shot!
