Freshman year I messed up pretty bad and got 2.8 gpa. This year I’m taking honors classes and my sophomore gpa is a 3.7. I’m going to take as many AP classes as possible Junior and Senior year. I’d like to study biomedical engineering but I know Purdue’s engineering school is competitive. My school does unweighted gpa so would Purdue still weigh my AP classes?
Most colleges look at UW GPA but consider course rigor. I would suspect a strong upward trend would still keep you in contention if you continue doing well in school. Be sure to take the time to prep for your SAT or ACT as well.
It’s not a race for the most AP courses. Don’t over tax yourself and then have your GPA take a hit. Purdue engineering is going to want to see strong grades in the math and the sciences. AP calc by senior year if possible, and AP physics.
