Can I still go to 4 year univeristy directly with a D?

I’m a senior.
I have applied Early Action to a couple of schools which will notify their decisions on this week.
However, I’m having significant difficulty in AP Biology. Every other class I’m taking has over 90. I have a 72, and a midterm exam might bring me down 70 and If that happens there’s little possibility for me to bring this up to a C as a semester grade. Should I give up and go to a community college prepare for transferring?
It’s unlikely that I drop this class because our school requires to make up all tests and assignments for the class you take after I drop this one. And I feel so bad. I prepared to go to a univeristy for over 4 years and now I need to give it away.
Thanks guys

I’m having 4 APs overall.

For most universities, the rule of thumb for their provisional admission is no D’s or F’s. I would do everything you can: extra homework/extra credit, tutor, work the teacher etc… to get the grade up to a C. Much will depend upon what each schools admission policy is and how they will handle the D. Wait for the acceptances, then contact the schools.

What are your other grades?

AP US 92
AP Euro 94
Honor Stat 91
AP Lit 89
Religion 93
Computer science 94

I was admitted to Beloit College yesterday with 18k. Should I inform them ahead of time about the possibility of getting a D?

My opinion would be no. Inform them about getting a D if you actually get a D, but until that happens just try your best to raise that grade. No sense in bringing their attention to the fact that you aren’t doing well in a subject, as they’re either understanding enough that they’ll work something out even if you get a D, or unforgiving enough that the very suggestion could be trouble.

Perhaps others here can add a different perspective.

Do not mention the D. And yes you can get into many 4 year schools. Sometimes, you have a hard teacher and sometimes you have a class you just do not like. My son has an A in Physics and Chemistry but has a C in English which he cannot stand. (out out damned spot) Hang in there, study hard and mums the word.
