Can I still make it into medical school?

So hello CC community... I have been browsing the forums for quite some time so If you have seen this question come up before Im quite sorry I havent been able to find the answer.

So my story is that I was a unmotivated high school student and did not fully seize my education till about my Junior year where I was stuck making up freshman and sophmore stuff and unable to convince my teachers to place me in the higher level classes. So after I graduated I went off to a community college where I have completed one year so far and have kept my GPA at a 3.68 the transition and learning all these study skills I passed up made it a little vigorous my first semester resulting in the small GPA drop.

So I currently have another year before transfer where I have started seriously thinking about my major and the direction I wish to take with my life, for about a month now everyday I have done at least 4 hours of researching colleges, education, careers, majors, and what not.

It leads me to medical where I can really see myself dedicating myself to, not only for that reason but also because alot of my family have health issues and to understand and maybe even helping these ailments in the future gives me motivation as well. Now I understand that the medical education is super competitive and Im ready to put in the work.

Now for my question... Is it possible? For someone with terrible high school history, who is attending a CC, then planning to transfer to UC davis or if even possible to UC Berkeley to achieve what I need to be taken seriously by these types of educators.

I would like any advice or storys you have for me anything to push me in the right direction, maybe Im just buried in worry about how my past education has proceeded and Im looking for some moral support but I want to know if this is a realistic goal for me.

Also if Im not accepted into top tier medical schools after undergrad level and I end up going to a medical school that is on a much lower tier... will I be taken seriously at all? What kind of positions would I be able to get after that medical school?

I thank you for any words

You need to first worry about how to get accepted by a medical school, much less a "top-tier" one. Actually, no, you should first worry about getting into a university for undergrad. Even if you graduate from the lowest-regarded medical school in existence, you will still receive a MD. And to be blunt, it will probably be very difficult for you to do even that with a 3.68 community college GPA. Focus on studying right now and raise that GPA.

I understand thank you for the advice, I do however expect my GPA to be a 3.8 when I transfer to a UC and to be very vigorous on my education and do all I can but like you said I will take it a step at a time and make sure Im accepted into a good UC first

Aside from the fact that you go to a CC and med schools may guess that your high school grades were poor based on that, they won't know how you did in high school. So don't worry about that. Second of all, I'm not sure if this is true for UC (I'm on the East coast and know nothing about CA schools), but I think it's a trend that your GPA is wiped clean after you transfer from a community college to a 4 year university. So if this is true, just work really hard and your past won't be a problem.

No, that's not correct. AMCAS will ask for your CC grades and incorporate them.

It is often (not always) the case that when you transfer from a CC to a four-year institution, your gpa is wiped clean for the four-year school (i.e., the credits transfer, but the grades don't). This is not true for the medical school application process. AMCAS asks for transcripts sent from every school at which you have ever taken a college course, and these grades will be incorporated into your AMCAS-recalculated GPA.
