My counsellor has not yet submitted school records because there is a small issue and most probably I may get it only after January 1 which is the deadline for many universities. In the Recommenders section of CommonApp however, it is already ticked since I invited the counsellor and teachers. Can the counsellor upload the transcripts after January 1 so that the university receives it?
Yes, you can- school items can arrive later at most schools (I know Umich is an exception) because the school knows it isn’t under your control.
@InfiniteLibrary - you can apply before counselor / other recommenders submit their portions. Colleges will download those submitted later whenever they are submitted. However, them submitting after the deadline depends on each college - some allow it, some don’t.
Yes! You should get your portion out before the deadline. They would not penalize you typically if your counselor or teachers come after the deadline.
@yonceonhismouth @MedSciBud @universityjoe Thank you all so much! That’s great to know. Are any of the following universities exceptions: Purdue, Boston University, CMU, Cornell and UW Madison exceptions?
The people that know work in admissions at those schools. Email them so you have a record of what they told you in case there are any issues later.
What are you going to do is someone on the internet tells you school X is fine and then it turns out there is a problem?
@mikemac That was great advice! I emailed all of them and all of them said it was fine to send the materials in after a while. Turned out I worried for no reason though - she finished the rec before Jan 1
glad it all worked out!
