Can I swim on the Lehigh varsity team?

My times are:
50 free: 22.51
100 free: 48.77
100 fly: 52.34

Also, are the practices always divided into groups (e.g. sprinters do the sprinting practice and the distance swimmers do the distance practice)?

Thanks to whoever answers.

Are those short or long course times

You can find the swimteam event times on their website. Curious about your current coaches and why they didn’t contact lehigh coaches. Those are all under nationals times. I assume you swam at nationals? I would contact the coach or have your current coach contact them. Good luck!

Are you female or male? Not under national times if you are male…

Oops bad assumption on my part.

Idahomom, my info has these under national times for both scm and Lcm, not scy. Is this wrong?

Are you male or female? What I meant was that if you are male then the times you listed are not national times. If you are female then they are. It wasn’t clear (or I missed it) from your original post . If you are male they are still decent times-- but just not national ranked times

and i was assuming yards times-- most colleges list yards times – sorry to confuse the issue

To OP

What you might do is most colleges list top times from their previous season (usually list yard times). If your times are in the top two listed then you are a very string candidate for that team. If you are third then probably in good shape. Below that-- maybe not.

There are exceptions for sure-- but this would give you an idea.

And yes I think most teams divide their practices by distance/sprint/etc.

Yes, you can swim on Lehigh’s team but you would not get much of an admissions advantage with those times, which is perfectly fine. Looking at last year’s results, ([Meet Results: 2013 Patriot League Championships](http://www.bucknellbison.com/livestats/c-swim/13plchamp/)) it took 51.98 to score in 100 fly last year, which is a little softer than usual, and it took 1:56.33 to score in the 200 fly. If I were you, I would look into becoming a 2 flyer because it is generally much easier to score in the 200 stroke events than in the sprints. And yes, the team generally splits into at least three groups on any one day: sprint, distance, and stroke. We have ten lanes to work with, however, so within the group your lane’s workout might be a little different depending on the events you do. Also, your group could change depending on the day so that you can work your different events.

I’m a male so my times are far away from national times. Also these are short course times. I don’t know if I can hold a 200 fly though…a 200 free is pretty hard for me because I’ve practiced as a sprinter for as long as I can remember
