I’m entering high school next year as a freshman, and I’m wondering whether or not I can change my schedule. Keep in mind, I still have two more months until summer break is over. The AP class I now want to take is AP Human Geography. However, last year, my teacher gave me the options of honors history or ap human geography and I, as a stupid, dumb, naive 8th grader, chose honors history. I regret that. Who should I contact? Should I speak to my counselor? Before summer break, or during the first day of high school? Is it even possible?
That depends upon the school. Ask the GC at the beginning of the year. Usually there is a few days to add/drop/change, although if the class you want is full, you may be out of luck. But ask.
Can I send her an email over the summer? I feel like an email would be better composed than speaking to her, and an email would be more convenient since she would be making the schedules then.
I don’t know her schedule. If she’s working during the summer, send her an email. If she has summers off, then your email most likely won’t be read. Just because a schedule is being built over the summer does not mean that it’s the GC that is doing it. But again, that is school specific.
