Can I switch to EDII? (odd circumstances)

Hi guys, as you probably know from my other posts and my CC location, I'm in love with Tufts. I'm 100% sure it's where I want to be for college but I regrettably couldn't ED because of my family's financial situation. However, in the last day or so, my family's situation has changed. I am now much less worried about financial aid and I really, really wish I had applied early decision I or II.

Do you think Tufts would allow me to switch my application type because of the recent change in circumstances? Although I'm happy we're in a better place economically, I just wish we could have heard 2 days earlier :( I was literally sitting in front of the Common App on the day of the deadline desperately trying to choose between EDII (what I wanted to do) and RD (what was the smarter decision at the time).

I realize this is probably not possible, and I obviously don't think I have some special right to change my application at the last minute. I just thought I'd check, because I really would like Tufts to know that they're my first choice. I already emailed admissions, but I figure they're pretty bogged down at this time of year, so I'm not expecting a response right away. Asking CC seemed like the next best solution :)

I am not sure about Tufts’ policy in particular but asking definitely can’t hurt. Even if they don’t let you make the switch they might remember that you had requested it and would therefore know that it was definitely your first choice. I am sorry the timing worked out so badly, but truth be told I am sure that if they want you, you will get in regardless of whether you pick ED 2 or not. I know they say it raises chances to apply ed but I honestly think that if you are what they are looking for you will get accepted anyways.

Thanks! I guess I’m hoping the same. Tufts is for sure a reach for me, and while I tried to make it clear I loved the school in my essays, I still wish I could have simply done EDII. Crossing my fingers though, and thanks for the optimism :)

Bump? No idea if anyone would know this, but worth a try haha

We’ll let you switch - no problem. Just give us a call/send an email.
