I’m taking Econ 101B, Math 54, and Stat 133, but I’m also planning to take the Adjunct Class for Math 54 as well as the Educ 197 class. So, would only taking those 3 classes be an under-load? Thanks! Typically, I have taken 4 classes for both semesters of my freshman year, but I don’t want to be “lazy” by taking only these 3 classes.
ECON 101B (Macroeconomics) is 4 units, Concepts of computing (STAT 133) is 3 units, and MATH 54 (Linear Algebra and Differential Equations) is 4 units. Total is 11. You sound like L&S, right? From https://ls.berkeley.edu/advising/planning/enrolling/course-load-limits : “In general, a standard course load is 15 units of course work per semester. L&S requires all students to take 13 units minimum each semester, except in cases where the dean has approved a course load with fewer units.”
Take 18 units if you don’t want to be lazy.
Take whatever units you need to be on the right path for graduation.
It’s absolutely not about “being lazy”-- by your definition or anyone else’s. It’s about taking the courses you’ll need in order to eventually graduate.
Wouldn’t the adjunct class and the Educ. classes add to the number of credits you’re taking?
Keep an eye on any scholarships or aid you have— some may be tied into having “full time” status. If so, you’ll want to determine exactly how many credits that means.
The Educ class would be 2 units and the adjunct class would be 1 unit, so I would meet the unit requirement to be a full time student.
So that’s 14 credits, full time. I domt understand why you downplayed those last 3 credits in the OP. It’s not “only those 3 classes”. It’s 5 classes, right. I admit to being confused
@carrots0066 I’d create a plan, if I were you - what classes you need to graduate, and have SOME idea when you are going to be taking what. The goal is not just to maintain your status as a full time student, but to come out with a degree, right? For your major, or intended major, are all the classes you are taking needed? Did you check all the requirements, so that you do not miss something that has to be taken, say, before the end of your 4th semester? etc. Pay a visit to a college adviser may be? Or at least run your degree progress report on your CalCentral login…
@bjkmom The Educ 197 and Math 54 Adjunct class can only be added later and I was afraid that since I couldn’t add the classes, I would not get my financial aid.
@ElenaParent I made the list already at least my core classes, and most of my breadth requirements were fulfilled. I’m on track and already have a plan that will make sure that I graduate in 4 years. I just didn’t want to take on another course on top of Math 54, Econ 101B, and Stat 133 (which I expect to spend a lot of time on)…
Welp, I just took another class.
