Can I take a pass/fail course + gym (same semester)

The CU CALS website says the following...
*Students are expected to complete the physical education requirement in their first two semesters at
Cornell.
*Freshmen may not enroll in more than 18 credits, not including PE or review/supplemental courses and
are limited to one S-U optional course per semester.

I want to take a 1 credit pass/fail course (IARD 6960 Perspectives in International Development) in addition to taking a P.E. class... Do P.E. classes count as pass/fail courses/disqualify freshmen from taking additional pass/fail courses? Or can I take a P.E. + IARD 6960 at the same time?

My kid was a sophomore last fall, she took one 3 credit course P/F and PE. The way I am reading it is PE is outside of any consideration, and you are only allowed to take one PF optional course per semester. Yes, you could take a PE and one PF course per semester.

PE doesn’t usually count on the credit limit. But you can also petition to go above the credit limit, if you are really serious at taking more courses.

You can take both. PE is not pass fail optional, so you’re all set
