Can I take a quarters off before transfer

I have to take ~9 more courses at my community college before I meet the 90 credits to transfer to a UC. I’m thinking about staying an extra year here before transferring in Fall 2017. If I take 3 courses per quarter, I’d finish by Fall 2016, how would taking two (2) quarters off look when I transfer? If I decide to take classes in these quarters, will my credits transfer over when I transfer?

It would be fine and you could explain why you were taking time off.

All your courses will transfer so long as they’re UC transferable. As for your GPA, only ones taken through Fall semester are calculated for transfer GPA. Sounds like you’re on the quarter system though so I don’t know how that works.

What type of GPA do you have and what school/program are you trying tog get into? Depending on your GPA, you could always take some easy A classes to raise your GPA.

I’m really only taking these quarters off since I meet the transfer requirements.

As for my GPA, it’s around ~3.15 . I guess I can take easy A classes but these credits won’t transfer over? I plan on applying into UCSB, UCSC, UCR (plan on TAGing into one of these).

Personally, I would try to take some easy classes and continue through all terms because it would be great to boost your gpa and give you options beyond just the TAG. The other UCs may look at your taking the easy path and not trying to do more than the bare minimum.
