Can I take a summer class before transferring in the fall?

I'm currently attending a community college, and I'm so close to finishing up the 60 units I need to transfer to Berkeley in the fall. My problem is by the end of spring semester, I will still be short of 3 units. I can take a class in the summer in order to fulfill this requirement. My question is if it's OK to take a summer class at my community college before transferring in the fall? I know a lot of the CSUs want you to be done with your 60 units by spring, so I'm wondering if it's the same for Berkeley. I figure I should ask my counselor about this, but I think it wouldn't hurt to ask someone online.

You pretty much need to have them done by the end of spring. Sometimes they’ll be lenient about it and let you finish over summer, but that is extremely rare. If I were you, I’d find an easy 3-unit class and add it onto your spring semester.
