Can I take dual enrollment while at Virginia Tech?

I want to get a EMT-B certificate to volunteer as paramedic. I know that the rescue squad does accept 20 students to take the class throughout the year, but if i don't get in, can i take it somewhere else? If I can, where is the closest community college to Virginia Tech?

Thank you

Most people who don’t get accepted to Engineering right away take a course at New River Community College that transfers as the first semester freshman engineering course. The closest community college is New River. They have a campus site at the mall which is about 10 minutes from VT. If you have to go all the way to NRCC, it is about half an hour.

Thanks. Is there a bus system to the mall? I don’t think I can take my car first year.

Most definitely. It runs pretty much all day long. Unfortunately I think it is only at VT for a few minutes before departing. The route is around an hour long.
