I will soon become a new UCR freshman student and I am required to take the MAE Math test. I know i am able to retake the test on July or August but I was wondering If I could take it multiple times like an SAT on June and just to one retake on July or August.
Can I retake the MAE?
The Mathematics Advisory Exam (MAE) can be taken a second time under the following conditions (all conditions must be met):
-
You are a new incoming student (freshmen or transfer) to UCR.
-
You take the exam in May or June (at any testing location) prior to your first quarter of matriculation, i.e. you haven’t taken a class at UCR yet.
-
You must complete 3 hours of work in an online learning system. Currently, that system is ALEKS PPL and costs $20 to access. You’ll take an initial assessment in ALEKS PPL and after working in ALEKS PPL for at least 3 hours, you will take a second assessment. Once you’ve taken the second assessment, you’ll be allowed to retake the MAE
-
Retakes of the MAE must be completed before attending your Highlander Orientation Session. No retests will be allowed after the last August date posted on the MAE website.
Also, exam scores expire after one year so a student with a placement other than ARC 35 must retake the exam to update their placement.
So does that mean that i can take the test 3 times in june and retake it in july?
@Matt451: It states you can take it for a 2nd time. No mention what happens after the 2nd time. I would call UCR admissions to confirm.
I found this on the UCR website:
**Starting in May 2018, incoming students that take the MAE at any location in May or June may have a chance to take the MAE a second time. Upon completion of work in ALEKS PPL, students will be allowed to retake the MAE again. Students that place into ARC 35, will have to take both parts of the MAE while all other placements will only need to take part 2. Once a student has retaken the MAE, they may not retake the MAE again.
