I will still take the calculus series for a grade. Can I take pre calc pass or np if I'm a science major or planning on changing majors to a science major at ucsd? (I attend a ccc currently)

Todays the last day to elect pass or no pass option :(

Precalculus isn’t typically listed as a pre-req for science majors. Calculus is, though.

I’m not sure, but maybe you can.

Ok thanks

Does anyone else have any information regarding pass/np?

I believe you can as math is one of those validation subjects, meaning if you can get into one level through testing or some other placement you don’t have to worry about taking ones earlier in the chain. So you take pre-Calc P/NP, then next term you’re eligible for Calc. I can’t see why it would make a difference if pre is P/NP - and it’s not a req for your major, it’s merely getting you to a req you need. (FYI, the other subject that works on the validation method is language.)

@lindyk8 ok thank you! I chose pass or no pass, I hope I made right decision. Pre calc is the foundation for calc so I’m still going to work to get an A. :)

Take that pass/no pass. I scraped by with a B- in pre-calc and got A’s in calc 1 and 2. Pre-calc slightly resembles calc, but its more like a “do you know your trig”. If it’s not major required, then you can take it pass/no pass.
