so im going to cc this fall '19 and I got a C in trig this year as a senior. can I still take Pre Calc this fall or will they make me take trig? if so ill be taking trig this summer and also freshman comp (eng 100) on top of that
It depends on your college Math placement policies. At my college (www.everettcc.edu) we would allow you to enroll in PreCalc I if you received at least a ‘C’ in Algebra II/Trig. At many other colleges, they will require that you take a Math placement test. Find out what the Math placement policies are at the CC you intend to attend. If they will require you to take a placement test, you could take it now and see where you get placed. If you have to take the prerequisite for PreCalc, then you can do it over the Summer, but if you place into PreCalc, you obviously won’t have to.
In my experience, there is a huge variability in the content of high school Geometry/Trig courses. So, that ‘C’ grade might be a good predictor of your ability to succeed in college-level PreCalc if your HS Trig course was rigorous and comprehensive. On the other hand, if the course was not that rigorous, then that ‘C’ grade might be an indication that you are not well-prepared to take college-level PreCalc.
A placement test would give you more definitive information.
