Can I take the November SAT for regular college decision?

I realized that I was late for registration with the October SAT. Could I still take the November SAT and receive scores in time to submit on my college applications for regular decision? Also, for an additional question, do I need to apply early action for any schools even if I really want to go there? It seems like early action is only another deadline I have to worry about and feel that it won’t even benefit my chances. Any thoughts you guys can share on early action? Thanks

  1. November should be fine. The college websites are usually clear about when testing needs to be completed by so if you want to be certain you can look at the website of each college you plan to apply to.

  2. In terms of EA – In general there is no harm in applying EA unless you think you can strengthen your application between the EA and RD dates. For example you may want to wait for ED if you feel you want to show a strong first semester senior year grades or you think you can improve on your SAT in Nov. and that is past the deadline that will be accepted EA.

You should check the deadline for RD and test score on the website of the schools you are going to apply. It should be fine for most schools but you may miss the opportunity for merit scholarships in some schools.
